Selected Quranic verses

﴿ وَٱلنَّٰزِعَٰتِ غَرۡقٗا ﴾

By those who pull out [evil souls][1] harshly,

﴿ وَٱلنَّٰشِطَٰتِ نَشۡطٗا ﴾

and by those who draw out [good souls][2] gently,

﴿ وَٱلسَّٰبِحَٰتِ سَبۡحٗا ﴾

and by those who glide swiftly[3],

﴿ فَٱلسَّٰبِقَٰتِ سَبۡقٗا ﴾

and those who overtake one another as in a race[4]...

﴿ فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمۡرٗا ﴾

and those who carry out the command [of Allah],

﴿ يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ ﴾

on the Day when the earth convulses [by the first...

﴿ تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ ﴾

followed by the second Blast,

﴿ قُلُوبٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ وَاجِفَةٌ ﴾

hearts[5] will be pounding on that Day,

﴿ أَبۡصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةٞ ﴾

and their eyes[6] will be downcast.

﴿ يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِي ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ ﴾

They say, “Will we be brought back to life,

﴿ أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمٗا نَّخِرَةٗ ﴾

after we have turned into decayed bones[7]?”

﴿ قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذٗا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٞ ﴾
