Selected Quranic verses

﴿ وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ ﴾

even though the Hereafter is better and more lasti...

﴿ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ ﴾

Indeed, this was in the earlier Scriptures,

﴿ صُحُفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ ﴾

the Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

﴿ هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡغَٰشِيَةِ ﴾

Has there come to you the story of the Overwhelmin...

﴿ وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ ﴾

On that Day, some faces will be humiliated,

﴿ عَامِلَةٞ نَّاصِبَةٞ ﴾

overburdened and weary[1],

﴿ تَصۡلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةٗ ﴾

as they burn in a scorching Fire.

﴿ تُسۡقَىٰ مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ ءَانِيَةٖ ﴾

They will be made to drink from a boiling spring,

﴿ لَّيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٖ ﴾

and they will have no food except bitter thorny pl...

﴿ لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِن جُوعٖ ﴾

that neither nourishes nor satisfies hunger.

﴿ وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ نَّاعِمَةٞ ﴾

Other faces on that Day will be joyful,

﴿ لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةٞ ﴾

well-pleased with their past striving,
